Hardik, Rashid, Gill set to join Ahmedabad franchise: Report

As per ESPNCricinfo, Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill are set to join the Ahmedabad franchise for the upcoming IPL season. While Hardik and Rashid will be paid INR 15 crores each, Gill get INR 7 crores.

Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten will join the coaching staff of Ahmedabad, while Vikram Solanki, currently head coach of Surrey, will be their director.

Women’s Ashes to have DRS for first time

The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used for the first time in the Women's Ashes 2022/23, starting 20 January in Sydney. Each team will be allowed two reviews in the limited-overs matches and three per innings in the Test match. The multi-format series features a Test match, three ODIs and three T20Is.

In women’s cricket, DRS has been used in the World Cups and also in series in England since 2020 but never in the Ashes.

Root opts out of IPL mega auction

Joe Root will not be part of IPL 2022 mega auction as he wants to focus on rebuilding England’s Test side. Root confirmed the same after England’s 146-run defeat in the fifth and final Ashes Test match.

‘I didn't (give his name for auction), no, I think that there's a lot that we need to do for this team, which deserves all of my energy. I'll keep sacrificing as much as I can because I care so much about Test cricket in our country and trying to get us to where we can," said Root during a virtual press conference.

As per London's Evening Standard, Ben Stokes has opted out of this year’s IPL mega auction as well. Stokes cited that he wants manage his workload to remain mentally fresh for England's next home season.

Ireland win series in West Indies

Ireland beat West Indies by two wickets in the third and final ODI at Sabina Park Cricket Stadium to win their maiden series victory against an ICC Full Member away from home. They bowled out West Indies for 212 in 44.4 overs after asking them to bat and reached the target with 31 balls to spare.

Andy McBrine was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance (4-28 and 59). Craig Young starred with ball (3-43) as well, while Harry Tector (52) and Paul Stirling (44) chipped in with handy contributions to script the history.
