Pucovski cleared for Sheffield Shield
Will Pucovski has been declared fit to play for Victoria against Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield. He had earlier suffered an 11th concussion-related injury and had to be withdrawn midway through the match against South Australia.
'Will has made positive steps in his recovery from the injury in Adelaide,' said Dr Trefor James of Cricket Victoria. 'Given that he has made a full and relatively quick recovery and following the experts' diagnostic formulation, the panel was happy to support Will in his desire to continue playing.'
Asia Cup 2022 to be played in Sri Lanka
The 2022 edition of the Asia Cup – a T20 tournament – will be played in Sri Lanka, from 27 August, as announced in the annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The qualifiers are set to begin on 20 August.
Among other news, Jay Shah's tenure as a president of the ACC was extended till 2024, while Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) has been promoted from an Associate Member to a Full Member.
'I would like to thank all of my esteemed colleagues at the ACC for reposing their faith in me and considering me worthy to carry on all the work we had begun,' said Jay Shah on his appointment.
Australia beat India by six wickets
Australia beat India by six wickets at Eden Park in Auckland to extend their winning streak to five games in the Women's World Cup. They chased down 278 with three balls remaining, courtesy half-centuries from Meg Lanning (97) and Alyssa Healy (72).
Earlier, Yastika Bhatia, Mithali Raj, and Harmanpreet Kaur struck half-centuries to take India to 277/7.
Petersen rewarded with Cricket South Africa contracts for 2022-23
Keegan Petersen's contribution in South Africa's 2-1 Test series win over India has earned him an annual contract for the year 2022-23. Janneman Malan was also among the 16 cricketers to earn Cricket South Africa (CSA) contract. The contract list for the women's side will be announced after the ongoing ODI World Cup.
