Kolkata, Ahmedabad to host India-West Indies series

The BCCI confirmed a change to their schedule for India's upcoming home series against West Indies, beginning on 6 February. The six limited-overs fixtures, including three ODIs and as many T20Is, will now be held only in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

Apart from Kolkata and Ahmedabad, games were initially scheduled to be held in Jaipur, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. However, rising Covid-19 cases across INdia forced the board to revise the schedule to cut down travel and movement of the teams, officials, broadcasters and other stakeholders.

IPL 2022 to be held in India without crowd: Report

The IPL 2022 will be held in India itself, told a BCCI official to ANI. However, there will be no crowd inside the stadium. ‘Likely venues for IPL 2022 are Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India (CCI), DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and if needed, we can look at Pune as well,’ the official said.

The IPL player registration closed on 20 January 20 and a total of 1,214 players (896 Indian and 318 overseas) have signed up to be part of the 2022 auction. The players' list includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 Associate players.

IPL 2022 to begin in last week of March

IPL 2022 will start in the last week of March and will run till the end of May, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed. The BCCI is contemplating starting the IPL almost a week ahead of the planned start in order to reduce the number of day matches.

The number of matches will go up from 60 to 74 with the addition of two new teams.

Second T20I of Women’s Ashes washed out

The second T20I of the Women's Ashes 2021/22 was abandoned after only 4.1 overs at the Adelaide Oval due to relentless rain. Each side get one point in the multi-format series. Australia now lead 3-1 by virtue of their win in the first T20I.

Rain initially reduced the match to 14 overs per side. England reached 25/0 after Meg Lanning asked them to bat. Heavy rain then forced the players off the field, and there was no further play.
