Raj retains third spot, Goswami ranked second
Mithali Raj retained the third place among batters in the latest ICC Women’s ODI rankings, while Jhulan Goswami retained the second place among bowlers. With 738 points, Raj is only behind Lizelle Lee (761) and Alyssa Healy (750). Jess Jonassen (760) leads the wickets chart. She has 33 more rating points than Goswami’s.
Barring Raj and Goswami, Smriti Mandhana is the only Indian player who is in the top 10 among bowlers and batters in ODIs. Mandhana is at sixth place among batters, with 710 points.
West Indies trail by 162 against Sri Lanka
The West Indies lower order showed some resistance against Sri Lanka on Day 3 before rain forced early stumps of the ongoing first Test at the Galle International Stadium. At stumps, West Indies reached 224/9, still trailing by 162 runs. They resumed the day on 113/6.
A full first session’s of play was possible, and West Indies scored 102 runs during the period, losing two wickets. Only four overs were bowled after lunch, and Rahkeem Cornwall’s dismissal, in the 80th over, was the last ball of the day.
Suryakumar replaces Rahul for New Zealand Tests
K.L. Rahul will miss upcoming India’s Test series against New Zealand due to an injury. Suryakumar Yadav has been picked as his replacement two days ahead of the first Test, to be held in Kanpur.
Rahul has recently sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh. He will now undergo rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy in to prepare himself for the South Africa tour, beginning next month.
South Africa A reach 343/3 against India A on Day 1
Pieter Malan’s unbeaten 157 and Tony de Zorzi’s 117 helped South Africa recover from 14/2 on Day 1 against India A in Bloemfontein. They closed on 343/3, with Jason Smith (51*) is still in the middle with Malan.
For India, Navdeep Saini, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Umran Malik claimed a wicket each, while K. Gowtham, Rahul Chahar and Baba Aparajith remained wicketless.
