BCCI proposes six-team Women's IPL
In a big development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed to conduct the Women's edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. As per the initial plan, it is set to be a six-team event. As many as three of the ten existing franchises have shown interest in the event.
'Obviously, running the event alongside the men's IPL may not be possible. We may have to explore a window first. Besides, the details of the proposed event will be worked out,' an IPL GC member told Cricbuzz.
Australia beat Pakistan by 115 runs to win the series
Australia won a historic Test series against Pakistan with a 115-run win in the third and final Test match, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Nathan Lyon claimed five wickets and Pat Cummins three on Day 5 to skittle out Pakistan for 235.
Imam-ul-Haq scored 70 and Babar Azam 55, but none of others managed to put up any resistance on the final day.
Australia set to tour Sri Lanka later this year
Australia Men will tour Sri Lanka in June 2022 for a multi-format tour, as confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). They will play three T20Is, five ODIs, and two Test matches across Colombo, Galle, and Kandy. The T20I series will start from 7 June. The Test series, set to be hosted in Galle, will begin from 29 June.
'We are in for some exciting cricket, especially considering that an Australian tour to Sri Lanka is taking place after 5 years, since last time they toured Sri Lanka,' said Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Australia beat Bangladesh at the World Cup
Australia beat Bangladesh by five wickets to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games in the ICC Women's World Cup. Beth Mooney's unbeaten 66 helped Australia chase 136 in just 32.1 overs.
Salma Khatun claimed three wickets for Bangladesh, while Lata Mondal top-scored with 33. Sharmin Akhter (24) was the only other batter to score more than 20 runs.
