John Rutherford dies aged 92
Former Australian cricketer John Rutherford died aged 92. Rutherford was the first cricketer from Western Australia to represent the nation. His only appearance coming against India in Bombay in 1955/56, where he scored 30 and picked up a wicket. In First-class cricket he had 3,367 runs and 29 wickets from 67 matches.
'John Rutherford played an enormous role in placing WA Cricket on the map, at a time when the national side was dominated by players from the eastern states,' WA Cricket chief executive Matthews said.
BCB to summon Abu Jayed
Abu Jayed will be summoned by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for expressing disappointment after being overlooked for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. In his last three games, Jayed was unable to pick even a single wicket.
"It was very disappointing to see him speak in this manner after being excluded from the Test squad against Sri Lanka," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.
Zimbabwe defeat Namibia to win Capricorn Tri-Series
Zimbabwe women defeated Namibia by seven wickets in a low-scoring clash to claim Capricorn Tri-Series. They bowled out Namibia for 70 before completing the chase in just 9.1 overs. For Zimbabwe, Kellies Ndlovu top-scored with 33, while captain Mary-Anne Musonda made an unbeaten 22.
Earlier Nomvelo Sibanda starred with 5-14 (including a hat-trick) to wrap up Namibia's innings in 13.3 overs.
Rajasthan climb to the top of the points table
Rajasthan Royals came from behind to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 29 runs at MCA Stadium in Pune and reach the top of the points table in IPL 2022.
Riyan Parag's unbeaten 56 – including 23 off the last eight balls of the innings took Rajasthan to 144/8. However, R. Ashwin (3-17) and Kuldeep Sen (4-20) then helped bowl out Bangalore for 115.
