Axar’s five-for gives India edge against New Zealand after Day 3
Axar Patel's claimed his fifth five-wicket haul in seven innings to help India bowl out New Zealand for 296 on Day 3 of the first Test at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Riding on Axar’s efforts and R. Ashwin’s 3-82, India took a 49-run lead in the first innings.
By stumps, they extended that to 63 at stumps, and ended the day on 14/1.
Perth Scorchers lift maiden WBBL title
Perth Scorchers won their maiden Women’s Big Bash League title with a 12-run win against Adelaide Strikers in the 2021/22 final at the Perth Stadium. They posted 146/6 after being asked to bat and restricted the Strikers to 134/6.
Marizanne Kapp starred with both bat (31* in 23 balls) and ball (4-1-25-1), and was Player of the Match. Madeline Penna remained unbeaten on 21-ball 30, but it was not enough to take the Strikers past the finishing line.
Harmanpreet Kaur was named Player of the Tournament.
Pakistan on driver’s seat against Bangladesh after Day 2
Abid Ali’s unbeaten 93 and debutant Abdullah Shafique’s unbeaten 52 took Pakistan to 145/0 by stumps on Day 2. They are trailing by 185 runs in the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
Bangladesh, resuming the day at 253/4, were bowled out for 330 inside the first session. Hasan Ali did the most damage for Pakistan, with 5-51.
South Africa-Netherlands ODIs postponed due to Covid-19 concerns
The Netherlands and South Africa mutually agreed to postpone the Netherlands' ongoing tour of South Africa following concerns over the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant in South Africa.
The two teams played the first ODI of the series in Centurion on 26 November, which was abandoned due to heavy rain. But the second and the third matches, scheduled to be held at the same venue on 28 November and 1 December, will not go ahead.
