Ben Cooper announces retirement from international cricket

Ben Cooper has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. Cooper played 58 ODIs and 13 ODIs for the Netherlands. With 139 runs at an average of 28, Cooper is the leading run-getter for his nation in T20Is. 

'Today, I announce my retirement from international cricket,' tweeted Cooper. 'It has been an absolute honour and privilege to don the oranges and represent the Netherlands for the last eight years.'

Canada Under-19s fly home amidst Covid-19 surge

Cricket Canada has decided to get their Under-19 team back home from West Indies, after nine members of the squad tested positive for Covid-19. The match against Scotland, scheduled on 29 January, has been cancelled.

'It's very unfortunate that these young men have to go through this kind of a challenge in their young career. We are focused on getting these players back home safely and quickly,' Cricket Canada president Rashpal Bajwa told Cricbuzz.

Australia finish Day 3 on 12/2

Heather Knight struck twice in 17 balls to reduce Australia to 12/2 on a rain-affected Day 3 of the only Ashes Test match, in Canberra. Australia are ahead by 52 runs, and with just a day remaining, the match is likely to end in a draw.

Earlier, Heather Knight finished unbeaten on 168 and Sophie Ecclestone scored 34, as England finished on 297. Ellyse Perry claimed three wickets and Annabel Sutherland two.

Northern Knights beat Canterbury by 56 runs

An unbeaten 92 from Mitchell Santner and three-wicket hauls from Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee helped Northern Knights beat Canterbury by 56 runs. Canterbury were bowled out for 161 while chasing 218.

Santner struck nine sixes in his 40-ball 92 after Katene Clarke made 71 in 34 balls. For Canterbury, Matt Henry top-scored with 44.
