Jackson Bird ruled out of County Championship 2022

Jackson Bird's stint at Kent in County Championship 2022 has been cut short by a shoulder injury. He is forced to fly back to Australia after just three matches. Kent have announced Grant Stewart as a replacement.

'He's torn a tendon in his shoulder, which is not a great injury. It's going to take a huge amount of rehab and he wouldn't be fit for his remaining time with us anyway. So he's gone home,' Kent head coach Matt Walker said.

Pooran appointed West Indies limited-overs captain

Cricket West Indies (CWI) named Nicholas Pooran as their limited-overs captain, with Shai Hope as his deputy. Pooran will succeed Kieron Pollard, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket.

'I am truly honoured to be appointed captain of the West Indies team. I am following the footsteps of several giants of the game who have created an amazing legacy for West Indies cricket,' said Pooran.

Stokes opens up On IPL Participation

Ben Stokes has opened op on his IPL participation after assuming the role of England Test captain. Stokes pulled out of IPL 2022 due to personal reasons, and is currently playing for Durham in County Championship. He said that Test cricket will be his first priority.

'It's an exciting time for myself but it is a challenge, especially after how the last few years have been,' Stokes told Sky Sports News. 'But for me, it's not about focusing on what's gone in the past. It's all about focusing on what we've got going forward and obviously that starts now, and then starts [at Lord's] on the second of June.'
