South Africa finish Day 1 on 35/1
India were bowled out for 202 on Day 1 of the second Test at The Wanderers in Johannesburg. South Africa, 35/1 at stumps, are still 167 behind them. Mohammed Shami dismissed Aiden Markram for the third time in a row. Mohammed Siraj couldn't complete his fourth over after pulling out his hamstring.
Earlier, K.L. Rahul scored 50 before getting out to Marco Jansen. Mayank Agarwal made 26, while Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara again failed to score anything substantial. Jansen claimed four wickets, while Duanne Olivier and Kagiso Rabada took three each.
Bangladesh take control on Day 3
Bangladesh put up a solid display with bat to gain control of the first Test match against New Zealand at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. They finished the day on 401/6, with Yasir Ali and Mehidy Hasan at the crease. Liton Das and Mominul Haque added 153 runs for the fifth wicket, while Trent Boult and Neil Wagner claimed three wickets each.
At this point Bangladesh lead by 73 runs in the first innings with two days in hand.
Hafeez retires from international cricket
Mohammad Hafeez has announced his retirement from international cricket, but he will continue to play franchise-based Twenty20 leagues. Hafeez's last appearance for Pakistan came in the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-final against Australia. He played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20Is for Pakistan.
'Today I say goodbye to international cricket with pride and satisfaction,' Hafeez said. 'In fact, I have earned and accomplished more than I had initially envisaged and for that, I am thankful to all my fellow cricketers, captains, support staff and the Pakistan Cricket Board who helped me out during my career.'
Renegades beat Stars by five wickets
In the Melbourne derby, the Renegades beat the Stars by five wickets in Match 33 of the Big Bash League 2021/22. The Renegades chased down 127 in 18 overs, thanks to a half-century from Aaron Finch. Earlier, Kane Richardson, Nic Maddinson, and Reece Topley picked up three wickets each to bowl out the Stars for 126. Hilton Cartwright top-scored with 41.
