IPL 2021: Gayle leaves team biobubble due to fatigue
Chris Gayle will be leaving the Punjab Kings biobubble due to 'bubble fatigue' and will not take part in the remainder of IPL 2021. Gayle had told the franchise he wants to refresh himself mentally in Dubai before playing for the West Indies in the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup.
Gayle was a part of the biobubble in the CPL, where he helped St Kitts and Nevis Patriots win their maiden title. He then travelled to Dubai in a bubble-to-bubble transfer for the second phase of the IPL 2021.
Chennai qualify for IPL playoffs, Hyderabad knocked out
Chennai Super Kings became the first team to qualify for the Playoffs after a six-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 44 of the IPL 2021, in Sharjah. Hyderabad, on the other hand, became the first team to get knocked out. They restricted Hyderabad to 134/7, and chased that down with two balls to spare.
Josh Hazlewood was adjudged Player of the Match for his 3-24. He was ably supported by Dwayne Bravo (2-17) to keep Hyderabad batters in check. Wriddhiman Saha top-scored for Hyderabad with 44, but took 46 balls to reach there.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis kept the chase under Chennai’s control. They added 75 for the opening wicket to lay the platform, but Chennai struggled to get going in the last four overs of play. In the end, M.S. Dhoni finished things off with a six in the last over.
England to tour Netherlands for three ODIs in 2022
England Men will tour the Netherlands in June 2022 for three ODIs. The matches are scheduled on 17, 19 and 22 June at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen, and will be part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League.
The tour were due to take place this summer, but were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pink-ball Test: India Women reached 132/1 on Day 1
Smriti Mandhana’s career-best 80 not out guided India Women to reach 132/1 on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test match against Australia Women in Queensland. She and Shafali Verma (31) added a 93-run opening wicket stand after Meg Lanning won the toss and asked them to bat. Sophie Molineux picked up Verma’s wicket in the 26th over.
Punam Raut and Mandhana batted out the next 18 overs of play before the rain arrived, and did not allow to play further more.
