England will host South Africa for Women's Test
South Africa Women will play their first Test match since 2014/15 when they tour England this year. In their last Test match, they lost to India by an innings and 34 runs in Mysuru. Their last Test match against England dates back to 2003.
England, meanwhile, were involved in a thrilling draw in an Ashes Test match in Canberra. Their home fixture for 2022 will be finalised next month.
Bresnan retires from professional cricket
Tim Bresnan brought an end to his professional career by announcing his retirement on Monday, 31 January. Bresnan played 23 Tests, 85 ODIs, and 34 T20Is for England, and had a long, illustrious career with Warwickshire.
'This has been an incredibly tough decision, but after returning to winter training I feel that this is the right time,' Bresnan said. 'I have continued to work hard throughout the off-season to prepare for my 21st professional year, but deep down I feel I can't reach the high standards that I set myself and my teammates.'
West Indies beat England by 17 runs
West Indies won the last T20I against England by 17 runs to clinch the five-match series by 3-2. Jason Holder was adjudged Player of the Match for taking four wickets on four balls in the last over. He finished with 5-27, while Akeal Hosein claimed four wickets to restrict England to 162.
Earlier, Kieron Pollard's 25-ball 41, and a quick 35 from Rovman Powell, had propelled the West Indies to 179/4.
South Africa beat West Indies in Super Over
The second ODI between South Africa and West Indies ended in a tie after Shabnim Ismail dismissed Shakera Selman off the last ball. In the Super Over, Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews hit two sixes and two fours between them to set up a target of 26. South Africa fell three runs short, and went one down in the series.
