Shane Warne dies aged 52

Shane Warne, the legendary leg-spinner, has passed away aged 52 of a suspected heart attack. He was found dead at Koh Samui in Thailand. Warne played 145 Tests and took 703 wickets before retiring from international cricket in 2007. A year later, he became the first captain to win an IPL title.

'It is with great sadness we advise that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand today, Friday 4 March. Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,' said a statement from Warne's management company.

Bangladesh appoint Donald as fast-bowling coach

Allan Donald has been appointed as fast-bowling coach of Bangladesh men's senior team. Donald will succeed Ottis Gibson, who has accepted the role of the head coach at Yorkshire. Donald played 72 Tests and 64 ODIs for South Africa.

'Very special day for me just to announce that I will be joining the Bangladesh cricket team right from the start of the South African series, leading upto the T20 World Cup that will take place in Australia,' stated Donald.

India finish Day 1 on 357/6

Fifties from Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant helped India finish Day 1 of the first Test against Sri Lanka on 357/6. Vihari, playing his first Test match at home, got 58, while Pant was unlucky to miss out on a century by four runs. Pant's innings comprised of nine fours and four sixes.

For Sri Lanka, Lasith Embuldeniya claimed two wickets, including Virat Kohli (45). Ravindra Jadeja (45) and R. Ashwin (10) will resume Day 2 for the hosts.

Imam's century put Pakistan on top

An unbeaten 132 from Imam-ul-Haq drove Pakistan to 245/1 on Day 1 in Rawalpindi. Imam and Abdullah Shafique added 105 for the opening wicket to get Pakistan off to a great start. After Shafique got out on 44, Azhar Ali got an unbeaten 64. Azhar and Imam added an unbroken 140 as Australian bowlers failed to pick the second wicket.

Nathan Lyon bowled 31 overs, and got the wicket of Shafique at the stroke of lunch.
