Stubbs replaces injured Mills
Mumbai Indians have named Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for the injured Tymal Mills for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2022. Mills has been ruled out of the season with an ankle injury.
Stubbs, an explosive middle-order batter, will join Mumbai at the base price of INR 20 lakh. In the CSA Challenge last year, he totalled 293 runs at a strike rate of over 180.
Essex fined GBP 50,000 for racist comments
Essex has been fined GBP 50,000 after chair John Faragher was found guilty of using racist remark in the team meeting. Faragher, who kept denying the charge, resigned from the post last year.
'It is clear that the club has failed to uphold the standards expected of it, not only in respect of the conduct of its former chair but also as regards its failure to act appropriately or at all thereafter,' read the statement from Essex.
MCC name Stephen Fry as the new President
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has confirmed Stephen Fry, an eminent actor and comedian, has its next President. He will succeed Clare Connor, who became the first female President last year.
'I am honoured and proud to be nominated as the next President of MCC,' said Fry, who delivered the MCC Spirit of Cricket Lecture in 2021. 'It is a club that is known throughout the world for what it represents in the game and to be gifted the opportunity to perform this role is truly humbling.'
Delhi beat Hyderabad by 21 runs
Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs in Match 50 of the Indian Premier League 2022.
Nicholas Pooran's fifty went in vain as Hyderabad could only manage 186 while chasing 208. Khaleel Ahmed (3-30) was the pick of the Delhi bowlers. Earlier, David Warner starred with an unbeaten 92, while Rovman Powell made a quickfire 67 to propel Delhi to a daunting total.
