Derbyshire appoint Bell as batting consultant

Derbyshire has roped in Ian Bell as batting consultant for the first two months of County Championship 2022. Bell succeeds Mal Loye and will work under newly-appointed head coach Mickey Arthur.

'As a young coach, the opportunity to learn from one of the biggest names in the game was massive,' said Bell. 'Mickey has big plans for the future of Derbyshire, and I'm really excited to be part of it for the next couple of months.'

Coulter-Nile ruled out of IPL 2022

Rajasthan Royals will miss Nathan Coulter-Nile for the rest of the IPL 2022. Coulter-Nile played only one match, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and was unable to complete his last over. Rajasthan Royals have won two matches and lost one so far this season.

'I had the pleasure of introducing Nathan, when he first came into the bubble and into our family. Unfortunately, I have got the hard task of wishing him farewell. It's always hard to lose someone, particularly when it's through injury,' said RR physiotherapist John Gloster.

Bayliss appointed London Spirits head coach

London Spirits appointed Trevor Bayliss as an interim head coach for the 2022 edition of the Hundred. Bayliss will succeed Shane Warne, who passed away last month, and will unite with Eoin Morgan, under whose captaincy England won World Cup in 2019.

'It is obviously very bittersweet to take the role given the circumstances. It is an honour to try and build on the work Warnie started. The side knew what he and Eoin were trying to build and I hope we can do that this year,' Bayliss was quoted as saying by dailymail.co.uk.

Kolkata beat Mumbai by five wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders handed Mumbai Indians their third successive defeat of IPL 2022. Pat Cummins (56 in 15 balls) struck the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history after picking two wickets in what was his first game of the season to help Kolkata chase in 16 overs. Venkatesh Iyer also remained unbeaten on 50.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav also notched a fifty in his first match. He forged a crucial stand with Tilak Verma to propel Mumbai to a fighting total.
