Mumbai invited to Oman to play T20s before World Cup
As per Cricbuzz, Oman has invited the Mumbai team to play at least five Twenty20 games against them. Mumbai will leave for Muscat on 19 August, and will return home before the start of the Indian domestic season.
The arrangement made by Oman Cricket is specifically for match practice ahead of the T20 World Cup in October. Duleep Mendis, the CEO of OC, sent the invitation to Sanjay Naik, the secretary of the MCA to make this happen.
BCCI allows bubble-to-bubble transfer from Sri Lanka to the UAE
The BCCI has decided to allow bubble-to-bubble transfers from Sri Lanka to the UAE for those who were involved in the recently-concluded India’s limited-overs series against Sri Lanka for the remainder of the IPL, which will resume on 19 September.
Nine Indian players had to miss a couple of matches in the tour and went into isolation after they either tested positive or were identified being in close contact with those who tested positive.
The same restriction will be used on the players featuring in the India-England series, Caribbean Premier League, and South Africa’s tour of Sri Lanka.
Nathan Ellis first to take hat-trick on T20I debut
Nathan Ellis became the first player to take a hat-trick on a T20I debut. Ellis picked up three wickets on the last three balls of the Bangladesh innings, during the third match of the series, in Mirpur. He bowled Mahmudullah with the fourth ball, and followed it with Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan off.
Ellis’ hat-trick is the 17th in T20I cricket and the third by a male Australian, after Brett Lee (in 2007) and Ashton Agar (in 2020).
Anderson surpasses Kumble, becomes third-highest wicket-taker
James Anderson went past Anil Kumble to become the third-highest wicket-taker in history, during Day 3 of the first Test between England and India. Anderson dismissed K.L. Rahul for his 620th scalp, overtaking Kumble’s 619. Soon afterwards, he removed Shardul Thakur to take his tally to 621.
Anderson is the only seamer to have more than 600 Test wickets. The two men ahead of him are Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708). He is playing his 163rd Test. Only Sachin Tendulkar (200), Steve Waugh (168) and Ricky Ponting (168) have played more than him.
