Bangladesh appoint Shane McDermott as fielding coach

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed Shane McDermott as the fielding coach for the men's senior side. McDermott will succeed Rajin Saleh, who was appointed on interim basis for the series against Afghanistan. 

'His (McDermott) present contract will run up to the end of November 2023. McDermott will join the South Africa-bound squad in Dhaka this week,' BCB stated on Saturday.

India beat Pakistan by 107 runs in World Cup

India beat Pakistan by 107 runs to kickstart their World Cup campaign on a perfect note. Chasing 245, Pakistan were bowled out for 137. India's middle order again failed to step up as they found themselves at 114/6. Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana then added 122 for the seventh wicket. Vastrakar fell for 67, while Rana remained unbeaten on 53, as India scored 244/7.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad then took 4-31 to skittle out Pakistan for 137. She provided the first breakthrough by getting rid of Javeria Khan (11) in the 11th over. Jhulan Goswami then dismissed Sidra Ameen (30) to reduce Pakistan to 53/2. They never recovered from the early setbacks and lost the game.

IPL 2022 schedule announced

The BCCI announced the schedule for the Indian Premier League 2022. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, last year's finalists, will play the first match, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 26 March.

There will be 12 double-headers, the first of which will be on 27 March. In the afternoon, Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians, while the evening match will be between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings.

It took only three days for India to go 1-0 up in the series as they defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in Mohali. Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged as Player of the Match for his unbeaten 175 and nine wicket in the Test match.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 174 and 178. Pathum Nissanka scored 61 in the first innings, while Niroshan Dickwella made 51 in the second.
