South Africa defeated West Indies by an innings and 63 runs
South Africa took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series with an innings-and-63-run victory over West Indies. Kagiso Rabada claimed a five-for, while Anrich Nortje had three as South Africa skittled West Indies out for 162 in the second innings.
Roston Chase held the fort but did not get enough support from the other end. Chase made 62 before falling to Keshav Maharaj, who also got the better of Jason Holder.
Earlier in the match, Quinton de Kock lit up the show with his unbeaten 141. His innings was laced with 12 fours and 7 sixes.
England on brink of defeat after ending Day 3 on 122/9
Matt Henry (3-36) and Neil Wagner (3-18) pushed England into deep trouble as they saw off Day 3 on 122/9, with a lead of 37.
Mark Wood’s 29 has been the highest score of the innings so far, while Dan Lawrence bagged another duck. Olly Stone and James Anderson will resume proceedings on Day 4.
Apart from Henry and Wagner, Ajaz Patel backed his first innings performance with two wickets in the second as well, including Joe Root.
India’s white-ball squad to undergo 14-day quarantine before Sri Lanka tour
The Indian contingency scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for a limited-overs assignment will have to undergo a mandatory quarantine of 14 days before departure. They will be quarantined in Mumbai from 14 to 28 June.
Three ODIs and as many T20Is will be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the side in absence of Virat Kohli, who is in charge of the Test squad for the England tour.
Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Krishnappa Gowtham, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana have earned maiden call-ups.
Shakib banned for three matches
On Saturday, 12 June, a clip of Shakib Al Hasan throwing tantrums at the umpire for a decision that went against him went viral. When an appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim was turned down, Shakib responded by kicking stumps and yelling at the umpire.
It all happened in a match between Mohammedan and Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League 2021. The officials have banned him for three matches and fined him BDT 5 lakhs.
