Oman defeat PNG by 10 wickets
Oman beat Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets to kickstart their ICC T20 World Cup campaign. They chased down 130 with 10 wickets and 38 balls remaining. Zeeshan Maqsood was adjudged Player of the Match for his 4-20.
PNG lost both openers, Tony Ura and Lega Siaka, inside the first two overs, before scoring a run. Assad Vala and Charles Amini steadied things with an 81-run partnership. Amini then got run out for 37, while Vala made 56 in 43 balls.

Scotland stun Bangladesh in T20 World Cup
Scotland made a terrific comeback after being reduced to 53/6 to beat Bangladesh by six runs in their opening match. Needing 25 off the final over, Bangladesh could only manage 17. Bradley Wheal and Chris Greaves shared five wickets. Mushfiqur Rahman top-scored with 38, while Mahmudullah made 23.
Earlier, Scotland lost Kyle Coetzer in the third over, but it was Matthew Cross' dismissal in the eighth over that triggered the collapse. Lifted by a 51-run stand between Mark Watt (22) and Greaves (45), they eventually posted 140.
BCCI invites applications for the coaching staff
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for various coaching roles for the men's cricket team and NCA. The tenure of Ravi Shastri, the incumbent coach, will come to end after the ICC T20 World Cup.
Rahul Dravid is likely to be appointed as the head coach. According to some reports, Dravid has even agreed to take up this role. Dravid was earlier with the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and he also led India's ODI side on the tour to Sri Lanka.
Maxwell's form will be crucial for Australia, feels Hussey
Michael Hussey stated that Glenn Maxwell's form will be crucial if Australia have to win ICC T20 World Cup. Australia haven't won a T20I series since February 2020, but Hussey is confident about they can do well if they adapt early.
'It's a tough role to play there in the middle order in T20 cricket so if you've got someone who's in top form and on top of their game then we've seen he can be a match-winner on his own,' said Hussey. Maxwell was the leading run-scorer for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021, amassing over 500 runs.
Australia play South Africa first, on 23 October.
