Ford steps down as Ireland coach
Graham Ford has resigned as head coach of Ireland's men team, as confirmed by Cricket Ireland. Ford had joined the side in 2017. Under his mentorship, Ireland played 47 ODIs, 51 T20Is and 3 Tests.
'The last four years have been very special for me – I have enjoyed many happy days with a cricket squad made up of very special people,' said Ford.
Maddinson replaces Finch as Renegades captain
Melbourne Renegades have confirmed that Nic Maddinson will replace Aaron Finch as their captain for the forthcoming BBL season. Finch, who led Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup title, has stepped down due to a hectic international schedule.
However, Maddinson will not be available for the initial phase of the tournament. He is a part of the Australia A squad scheduled to face England Lions before the Ashes.
Karnataka beat Bengal to reach semi-finals
Karnataka beat Bengal in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020/21 quarter-final in the Super Over. Bengal were unable to get a run off the last ball, taking the match to Super Over. Manish Pandey then struck a six to take his side across the target. They will meet Vidarbha in the final.
In a high-scoring clash, Tamil Nadu put up an excellent display with the bat to chase 182 in 19.3 overs against Kerala. They will be up against Hyderabad, who defeated Gujarat by 30 runs.
No crowd limit for Melbourne Test
The Victorian Government has removed COVID-19 restrictions in the state. The Melbourne Cricket Ground will now be at full capacity for the Boxing Day Ashes Test.
'Whether it's 100,000 at the MCG on Boxing Day or a smaller group standing up at the public bar of their local pub having a beer, this is the COVID normal that every Victorian has built,' their statement read.
