Sri Lanka finished Day 1 on 267/3, courtesy Dimuth Karunaratne's 132 and half-centuries from Pathum Nissanka (56) and Dhananjaya de Silva (56 not out). Karunaratne and Nissanka added 139 for the opening stand before Nissanka fell to Shannon Gabriel. Both Oshada Fernando (3) and Angelo Matthews (3) got out cheaply, to Roston Chase.

Villani's century drives Stars to thumping victory

Half-centuries from Katie Mack (89) and Madeline Penna (56) went in vain as Melbourne Stars chased down 176 in 19.3 overs. Elyse Villani notched a century in 65 balls to take them across the target. With one needed to win, she struck a six to move from 94 to 100. She was ably assisted by Meg Lanning, who scored 52 off 39, while Annabel Sutherland got 27 in 13 balls.
