Punjab beat Hyderabad by five runs
Punjab Kings kept their playoffs hopes alive with a five-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Sunrisers were restricted to 120 in the pursuit of 125 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Punjab did not have the best of the starts after being put in to bat. They lost Mayank Agarwal and K.L. Rahul in the space of five balls. Aiden Markram's 27 was the highest score of the innings as Jason Holder picked three wickets.
Hyderabad then lost David Warner and Kane Williamson inside three overs, to Mohammed Shami. Ravi Bishnoi then ran through the middle order, picking three wickets. Holder's unbeaten 47 was not enough to seal the win.
Delhi climb to top with 33-run win over Rajasthan
Rajasthan Royals squandered a golden opportunity to climb to third place after failing to chase 155 against Delhi Capitals. They could only muster 121/6. Barring Sanju Samson, who remained unbeaten on 70, none of the batters stood up to the occasion. Anrich Nortje picked up two wickets.
Earlier, Delhi's openers have had a rare bad day, as they both got out inside five overs. Shreyas Iyer then held the fort, scoring 43 off 32 deliveries. A late surge from Shimron Hetmyer (28 off 16) propelled them to a fighting total.
Cricketers played no role in Pakistan pullout decision
Team England Player Partnership (TEPP), an association that manages the national cricketers, has stated that the cricketers did not play a role in the cancellation of the Pakistan tour.
England were scheduled to visit Pakistan for a two-match T20I series, but ECB cancelled the tour, citing bubbles fatigue among other reasons.
'At no stage did TEPP inform the ECB that the players would not be touring," TEPP head Richard Bevan told ESPNCricinfo. 'It is 100% incorrect to suggest TEPP intervened to say the players would not tour.'
Rashid extends Yorkshire contract
Adil Rashid is all set to play for Yorkshire for another two years after renewing their contract on Friday, 24 September, while Gary Ballance has been given a three-year contract by the club.
Rashid is a mainstay for England in the limited-overs matches. Ballance, on the other hand, last appeared for England in 2017, and has played 23 Tests and 16 ODIs for the national side.
'I am delighted that both players have committed their futures to the Club. Adil and Gary are very important players to the team and we look forward to them further contributing for years to come,' Martyn Moxon, the Director of Cricket, stated.
