West Indies defeat Bangladesh by 3 runs

West Indies beat Bangladesh by 3 runs to register their first victory of the ICC T20 World Cup. Chasing 143, Bangladesh finished on 139/5. Liton Das top-scored with 44, while Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 31. Jason Holder was the most economical bowler.

Earlier, West Indies got off a terrible start. They lost Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle inside five overs. Shimron Hetmyer's dismissal reduced them to 32/3. Taylor named assistant coach of Team Abu Dhabi

Sarah Taylor has been appointed as an assistant coach by Team Abu Dhabi for the forthcoming edition of Abu Dhabi T10 league. She will join the coaching set-up headed by Paul Farbrace. She is also with Sussex as an assistant coach.

'Coming into this franchise world, you get players and coaches coming in from all around the world where it may not necessarily be the norm but I'd love to think that some young girl or some woman watching can see me in the coaching team and realise that's an opportunity and they can push for it, saying 'If she can do it, why can't I?', said Taylor.

Mallett dies aged 76

Ashley Mallett passed away at 76 after a long battle with cancer. He played 38 Tests and 9 ODIs for Australia, and his 132 Test wickets are the third-most for an Australian off-spinner.

After retiring in 1980, 'Rowdy' had a long, glittering career as spin bowling coach, commentator and journalist. He also wrote authorised biographies of Clarrie Grimmett, Jeff Thomson and his captain Ian Chappell, among others.

Pakistan defeat Afghanistan by five wickets

Pakistan won their third successive game in the T20 World Cup, defeating Afghanistan by five wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They chased down 148 in 19 overs. Asif Ali stole the show with his 7-ball 25 not out, 24 of which came through four sixes from the 19th over, bowled by Karim Janat.

Babar Azam, too, got 51, while Fakhar Zaman made 30 in 25 balls. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan claimed two wickets, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi and Naveen-ul-Haq managed one each.
