CSK rope in Drakes as Curran's replacement
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have replaced Sam Curran, ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a knee injury, with Dominic Drakes. Curran is also set to miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
Drakes is already in the UAE as a net bowler for Mumbai Indians. With 16 wickets, he played a crucial role in the title-winning season of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
Chennai, currently positioned second in the points table, will play Punjab Kings in the afternoon fixture of 7 October.
Shaheen to play for Middlesex
Shaheen Shah Afridi is all set to play for Middlesex in 2022, in both the County Championship and the T20 Blast. He was a part of Hampshire in 2020, and even picked four wickets in as many balls against Middlesex.
Afridi is currently playing in for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Pakistan National T20. In the most recent fixture against Balochistan, Afridi finished with three wickets.
'I am very excited to be playing for Middlesex next season. I know from my time in England they are a great county and to play at the Home of Cricket really will be a dream come true,' said Afridi.
Finch confirms Warner as opening partner for T20 World Cup
Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch has confirmed that he will open batting with David Warner in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. Warner has been axed by Sunrisers Hyderabad after a series of poor performances. Warner played two matches for SRH in the UAE, scoring a duck and two, and was replaced by Jason Roy.
'I've got no doubt that his preparation, while he would love to be playing for Hyderabad no doubt, I know that he's still training away. He'll be good to go,' said Finch.
Hyderabad beat Bangalore by four runs
Royal Challengers Bangalore squandered an opportunity to finish in the top two. They lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs as they failed to chase 142. Bhuvneshwar Kumar did well to defend 13 off the last over as A.B. de Villiers could manage only one six in his 19 not out.
Earlier, the Sunrisers rode on a 70-run partnership between Jason Roy and Kane Williamson to post 141/7. Roy top-scored 44 off 38 deliveries, while Williamson got out on 31. For Bangalore, Harshal Patel picked up three wickets.
