Brook secures BBL deal
Harry Brook has been roped in by Hobart Hurricanes for the forthcoming season of the Big Bash League. He has earned recognition for his brutal hitting prowess, and is often touted as the next big thing.
Playing for Yorkshire, Brook amassed 486 runs in the Vitality T20 Blast this season at just a shade below 150. Hobart has also acquired Tm David.
Watmore steps down as ECB chairman
ECB chairman Ian Watmore has resigned from the post with more than four years remaining in the contract. Watmore cited his personal health as a major reason to arrive at this decision.
Watmore replaced Colin Graves last December. He was severely criticised after ECB cancelled their tour to Pakistan, scheduled this month.
"It is with regret that I step down as chair of the ECB, but I do so in mindfulness of my own wellbeing and that of the game which I love,' stated Watmore.
Punjab defeat Chennai by six wickets
An unbeaten 98 from K.L. Rahul propelled Punjab Kings to a six-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings. They chased down 135 in just 13 overs.
Earlier, Arshdeep Singh and Chris Jordan, who played his first match in the UAE, claimed two wickets each. Chennai lost both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali inside the Powerplay. Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu and M.S. Dhoni got out quickly. Faf du Plessis held the innings together, scoring 76 off 55 balls to take Chennai to 134/6 in 20 overs.
Kolkata defeat Rajasthan by 86 runs
Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Rajasthan Royals by 86 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Kolkata posted 171/4 before skittling out Rajasthan for just 85. Shivam Mavi and Lockie Ferguson picked seven wickets between them.
Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer got Kolkata off a terrific start, adding 79 in just over 10 overs on a two-paced surface. Iyer got 38, while Gill (56 off 44) went on to complete his fifty. A late surge from Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik propelled them to a challenging total.
The Royals got off a terrible start, losing four wickets inside four overs. Rahul Tewatia's 44 eventually helped them post a face-saving total.
