Mumbai beat Hyderabad but fail to qualify
Mumbai Indians put on a comprehensive display with both and ball to outmuscle Sunrisers Hyderabad by 42 runs, but could not beat the Kolkata Knight Riders on net run rate. Kolkata went through to the Playoffs alongside Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Mumbai batted first and posted a daunting total of 235/9. Ishan Kishan went berserk, and slammed 84 in just 32 balls. He added 80 in the opening stand with Rohit Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav also smashed 82 in 40 balls. For the Sunrisers, Jason Holder conceded 52 runs but picked four wickets.
Hyderabad started well, and they were not much far behind their opponents by the end of the Powerplay, but they did not have Mumbai's batting depth. Jason Roy and Abhishek Sharma added 64 for the opening wicket, while Manish Pandey remained unbeaten on 69.
Bangalore defeat Delhi by seven wickets
A last-ball six by from K.S. Bharat propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore to a thrilling seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals. Bharat remained unbeaten on 78 as Bangalore mowed down a target of 165. Glenn Maxwell continued with his good form, scoring 51 off 33 deliveries, while Anrich Nortje picked two wickets for Delhi.
Earlier, Delhi's middle-order failed to capitalise on a scintillating start their openers provided them with. Shikhar Dhawan (43) and Prithvi Shaw (48 in 31 balls) added 88 in 10.1 overs. A late surge from Shimron Hetmyer (22) propelled them to a fighting total.
Fakhar, Sarfaraz, Haider gets entry into main squad
Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali and Sarfaraz Khan have been named in the 15-member Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup. None of them were a part of last month's original squad, but their performances in the ongoing Pakistan T20 Cup have compelled the board to tweak its plans.
Khushdil Shah has been moved to reserves, while Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain have been dropped. Haider has done well in the P20 Cup, where he is among the leading run-getters.
Pakistan's squad for T20 World Cup: Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan (vc), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood.
Poonam Yadav to play for Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat has signed Poonam Yadav for the forthcoming edition of the Women's Big Bash League. She replaced Amelia Kerr, who has pulled out due to personal reasons. She became the eighth Indian to get a gig in WBBL 2021/22.
'We know there is a lot of upside to Poonam coming on board this summer. When we lost Amelia Kerr, we were confident we could back our group to give a good account of themselves regardless. But adding Poonam's skill and her competitiveness is a huge result,' said Brisbane Heat head coach Ashley Noffke.
