Preview

The qualification showdown reaches a finale as Royal Challengers Bangalore head into Delhi Capitals in what could be the most decisive game of the season. The Virat Kohli-led side has had an up and down season in the latter half after appearing like a world-beating side before that.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are no different and come off the back of three losses on the trot. Delhi’s task is cut down by the fact that Bangalore have a strong line-up good enough to test them.

The battle between Bangalore and Delhi will be intense especially given the composition and character of the two teams. RCB are impactful in the death with the bat while Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje man the late overs with the ball for Delhi.

Team news and predicted XI

DC are expected to change a bit for this game considering the RCB line-up. Axar Patel and possibly even Daniel Sams could come in for Harshal Patel and Shimron Hetmyer even if it comes at the risk of having a short batting line-up.

RCB, on the other hand, might be unchanged for this game. One change that needs to be tried is Moeen Ali for Isuru Udana but the think-tank seem completely oblivious to the idea and as such for an important game like this, they are not likely to make that call.

Predicted XI

Delhi Capitals

Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Harshal Patel, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anrich Nortje

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Josh Philippe, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers (wk), Gurkeerat Singh Mann/Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal

Fantasy tips

  • AB de Villiers in the death is a near-certain hit against this attack and should be picked.
  • Kagiso Rabada has lost some steam in the last few games and has gone from a must-have to a suspicious pick.
  • Shikhar Dhawan, likewise, has lost steam too and might be a better off benched as he comes at a high price. Prithvi Shaw is a good pick (an x-factor risky pick albeit) alongside the reliable Iyer.
  • AB, Kohli, Iyer, Chahal are must picks for this game.
  • I am banking on Delhi to win this and hence have their core bowling and two batsmen and Stoinis in there.
  • Praveen Dubey is a good match-up for De Villiers and can be picked.
  • Padikkal could be under scrutiny against Delhi’s pace and his price makes him a difficult pick.
