In a stunning turn of events, the Delhi Capitals have reported the theft of equipment worth lakhs of rupees from their kit bags ahead of their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to a report by the Indian Express, 16 bats, along with pads, shoes, gloves, and thigh-pads were stolen from the players' kit bags as they arrived in the capital from Bengaluru on Sunday, after their IPL league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
DC players, including skipper David Warner, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt, and Yash Dhull, were among those whose bats were stolen. The incident came to light when the players received their respective kits and reported the theft to the franchise officials.
The Delhi Capitals promptly filed an official complaint, and an investigation is currently underway to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen equipment.
Despite the setback, the Delhi Capitals managed to conduct a practice session on Tuesday, but the players have had to rely on their agents to provide them with new bats ahead of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 20.
This shocking incident has put a damper on the Delhi Capitals' preparations for the upcoming match, and it remains to be seen how it will affect their performance on the field. The Delhi Capitals are currently sitting at the top of the IPL points table, having won three out of their four matches so far.
