MS Dhoni was seen in a promotional event in Mumbai on Wednesday where he revealed his future plans. He also picked two cricket moments that are closest to his heart.
While all are busy speculating his future in international cricket, the man in question was seen in an event in Mumbai. Dhoni has been away from international cricket since India’s semi-final loss in World Cup 2019 against New Zealand. He has neither been selecting for any of India’s match nor playing any domestic match. Most certainly he was asked about his future plans and according to reports, he requested the media to not ask anything regarding the same till January 2020. “January tak mat poochho”, was his quick response to the questions asked by reporters.
Although he was not keen on sharing his future plans, he was happy to discuss his cricket experience in the past. Former Indian skipper revealed that the open bus ride in Mumbai after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup was wonderful.“There are two incidents I would like to mention over here. So after the 2007 (T20) World Cup, we came back to India and had an open bus ride and we were standing at the Marine Drive (in Mumbai). It was jam-packed all around and people had come out of their cars.”
He further added, “So, I felt good after seeing the smile on everyone’s face. Because, there could have been so many people in the crowd, who might have missed their flights, perhaps they were going for important work. The kind of reception, we got, the entire Marine Drive was full from one end to other,”
In the interaction with News18 he recalled another moment from the 2011 World Cup Final when the fans were chanting “Vande Mataram” as a memorable one. “And the second instance I would say the 2011 World Cup final, in that match when 15-20 runs were required, the way all the spectators started chanting Vande Mataram’ at the Wankhede Stadium.” Dhoni opined, “These are two moments, I think, it will be very difficult to replicate them. Those are the two moments that are very close to my heart.”
