Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will take no further part in the ongoing 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) because of a groin injury which he sustained during the game against Delhi Capitals at Sharjah.
Confirming the development, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that the West Indian will fly back home within next couple of days.
“No, Bravo isn’t playing any more part this time round and the groin injury has ruled him out. He will be flying back in a day or two,” the CEO told ANI.
In IPL 2020 MS Dhoni, the CSK skipper, primarily used Bravo as a death bowler. Though, in six matches he has only six wickets to his name with an economy rate of 8.57. Hence, by his standards, this season hasn’t been a fruitful one for the Trinidadian.
As a franchise CSK are having a dismal season this year as they are currently languishing at the bottom of the point’s table with just six points from 1o matches. They even started the season with a negative note as two of their experienced cricketers – Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh – decided not to take part in the competition.
Asked if the absence of these two made a lot of difference, the CEO said decisions have always been respected in the franchise irrespective of whether a player is senior or junior.
“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the CSK unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” he explained.
