England bowlers ran through the West Indies line-up, bowling them out for just 55 in 14.2 overs in Match 14 of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They reached the target with six wickets and 70 balls to spare to avenge last edition’s final.

Adil Rashid wreaked havoc with ball, returning 4-2, the best figures by an English player in the Men's T20 World Cup, bettering Chris Jordan's 4-28 against Sri Lanka in 2016. Rangana Herath's 5-3 against New Zealand in 2014 still remain the best figures in the history of the tournament.

However, Rashid got the last four wickets. By the time he came on, Tymal Mills (2-17), Moeen Ali (2-17), Chris Woakes (1-12) and Chris Jordan (1-7) had already reduced West Indies to 44/6. West Indies soon succumbed to their lowest T20 World Cup total, with only Chris Gayle (13) scoring in excess of 10. Overall, they played 59 dot balls.

Coming to chase, England stumbled while trying to finish things off quickly. Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen and Liam Livingstone departed cheaply, but West Indies hardly had a target to defend. Jos Buttler (24*) hit Kieron Pollard the winning four in the ninth over to wrap up the game.

Brief Scores: West Indies 55 in 14.2 overs (Chris Gayle 13; Adil Rashid 4-2) lost to England 56/4 in 8.2 overs (Jos Buttler 24; Akeal Hosein 2-24) by 6 wickets and 70 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Moeen Ali.
