England's domination in T20I continued as they romped to a 46-run win against New Zealand to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Tammy Beaumont was unlucky to miss out on a century by three runs, but her knock propelled England to an imposing total of 184. New Zealand were then skittled out for 138.
Beaumont did not make much time to get in the groove, hitting two fours in the first over. Danni Wyatt (14) then struck three consecutive fours off Leigh Kasperek, but then got stumped while attempting the fourth.
Beaumont then added 43 runs with Nat Sciver for the second wicket. Sciver was beaten through the gate by Hayley Jensen for 14, but Beaumont kept going. She forged another important partnership, of 53, with Amy Jones, who made 31 off 15 deliveries.
Beaumont was on 97 when she holed out to Brooke Halliday on the penultimate ball of the innings. Sophia Dunkley sent the last ball to the fences, as the hosts finished on 184.
New Zealand were off to a shambolic start, losing both their openers for just 4. Maddy Green and Amy Satterthwaite then added 48 for the third wicket before the former was undone by Sophie Ecclestone on 19.
Katey Martin and Halliday got out cheaply, leaving New Zealand at 70/5 after 11 overs. Katherine Brunt then came back and got the better of Satterthwaite (43) in the next over. The rest couldn't do much, and they were wrapped up on 138 in 18.5 overs.
