England beat Netherlands by six wickets in the second ODI, at Amstelveen, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Opting to bat after rain reduced the match to 41 overs, Netherlands did well to reach 235/7. The star of their innings was wicketkeeper Scott Edwards, who top scored for the second time in a row, this time with a 73-ball 78. Edwards added 61 for the fourth wicket with Bas de Leede (34) and 73 for the fifth, with Teja Nidamanuru (28) after the Dutch were reduced to 36/3 inside 10 overs.

Even after that, they were left struggling at 191/7 in the 37th over. Logan van Been (30* in 36 balls) and Shane Snater (17* in 10) then added an unbroken 44 off just 27 balls. For England, David Willey claimed 2-46 and Adil Rashid 2-50.

In response, Jason Roy (73 in 60 balls) and Phil Salt (77 in 54) as good as decided the match with an opening stand of 139 in just 17 overs before teenage off-spinner Aryan Dutt (2-55) claimed both openers. Eoin Morgan followed soon, for his second duck of the series. When Liam Livingstone fell for a mere four, England suddenly became 177/4.

However, with Dawid Malan and Moeen Ali at the crease and Jos Buttler to follow, they had little to worry. Malan (36*) and Moeen (42* in 40) took 11 overs to get the remaining runs in the 37th over. Roy was named Player of the Match in his 100th ODI.
