England cruised to an eight-wicket win against Netherlands at the VRA Ground, Amstelveen to complete a 3-0 sweep of the ODIs. Set to chase 245, England openers Jason Roy (101* in 86 balls) and Phil Salt (49 in 30) added 85 in 58 balls before Paul van Meekeren (2-59) knocked the leg stump, sending Salt back. Two balls later, Dawid Malan tried to play an unusual cross-batted shot, missed the line, and was bowled.
That was all the joy Netherlands had, for Roy and Jos Buttler (86*) produced a display of sustained hitting to finish the match just after the 30-over mark. Barring Fred Klaassen (7-0-42-0), every Dutch bowler conceded at least eight an over.
Earlier, asked to bat, Netherlands lost Vikramjit Singh early before Max O'Dowd (50) and Tom Cooper (33) added 72 for the second wicket. Bas de Leede got 56 and wicketkeeper Scott Edwards 64, his third fifty of the series, and Netherlands reached 203 in 40 overs. However, the tail caved in against David Willey (8.2-0-36-4), and the Dutch were bowled out inside fifty overs, adding only another 41.
Buttler was named Player of the Series for his 248 runs at a strike rate of 185.
