First Women’s ODI, South Africa vs West Indies: Preview, fantasy tips, likely XIs Image

The four-match ODI series between South Africa women and West Indies women will get underway on 28 January, at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The two sides have met in 28 ODIs so far since 2005, of which South Africa have won 14 matches and the West Indies 10.

South Africa have won four of their last five ODIs. However, they will miss their captain Dane van Niekerk here due to an ankle injury. Lizelle Lee, recently named the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year, will not feature as well, after testing positive for Covid-19. The onus will be on Marizanne Kapp and stand-in captain Sune Luus and with both ball and bat.

West Indies, on the other hand, have won all five latest encounters. Equipped with their full squad, they will look to conquer South Africa. Stafanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews, two of their finest all-rounders, will be key, while Anisa Mohammed and Deandra Dottin will be in focus as well.

Taylor has outstanding numbers against South Africa. She has 651 runs and 21 wickets in the ODIs against them, the most from his country on both counts. Kapp, who has 25 wickets in 16 matches, must dismiss Taylor quickly to avoid an early defeat in the four-match series.
