Germany won the T20 tri-series after defeating Norway by six wickets via DLS method at Krefeld on Monday. After rain interrupted proceedings, Germany’s target of 128 was readjusted to 96 in 14 overs. They won with six wickets and two balls to spare.
Sajid Liaqat struck in his first over, getting opener Raza Iqbal caught by Sahir Naqash. Ehtsham Ul Haq was measured in his approach, and made 30 off 35 balls before falling prey to Vishnu Bharathi. Earlier, Bharathi pinned Wahidullah Sahak lbw, and effected a run-out on the next ball to reduce Norway to 28/3 after 8 overs.
Bilal Safdar’s unbeaten 26-ball 37 helped them reach 127/8 by 20 overs. For Germany, Sajid Liaqat claimed three wickets, while Vishnu Bharathi and Sahir Naqash picked up two wickets each.
Chasing a modest total, Germany got off a decent start, as their openers added 36 runs before Vijayshankar Chikkannaiah fell prey to Usman Arif. A ball later, Abdul-Shakoor Rahimzei got out lbw to Prithvi Bhart. Talha Khan (16) held the innings from one end, while Sahir Naqash hit a four and a six to take Germany across the finishing line.
