Right-arm pacer Craig Young of Ireland has been substituted in place of the team for the two T20Is against South Africa scheduled for August 3 and 5. Graham Hume is also a right-arm pacer.
According to a statement released by Cricket Ireland, the modification was made just before the team's Sunday afternoon flight from Dublin to Bristol for the series against South Africa.
In a coincidental turn of events, Hume, 31, represented South Africa at the 2010 Men's U19 World Cup in New Zealand. He received a central retainer contract from Ireland in May of this year, and he played in his first ODI against New Zealand earlier this month.
Ireland will play two Twenty20 Internationals against South Africa in Bristol on August 3 and 5, then a five-match Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan in Stormont on August 9, 11, 12, and 15.
India played two T20Is in Ireland on June 26 and 28, winning both games by a tight margin of four runs to take the series 2-0. They just hosted New Zealand in their home summer of 2022, losing both the ODI and T20I series 3-0 despite having numerous opportunities to pull off incredible victories.
The final Ireland squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will take place in Australia in October-November, is anticipated to be announced in late August and the final squad be announced in September.
