When the action gets underway at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on September 16, West Indian T20 specialist Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag will be sporting the Gujarat Giants shirt owned by Adani Sportsline.
The LLC draught regulations stipulate that each franchise has three days to finalise its lineup, including any additional option of cricket heroes with the money it has available for the franchise.
During the virtual draught on Friday, the Giants spent Rs. 5,51,80,000 on 15 veterans, leaving them with Rs. 2,48,20,000 to complete their roster.
"Gujarat Giants made it known after the Friday draught that they intended to use the money left over from their combined Rs 8 crore franchise budget to purchase Chris Gayle. The discussion was brokered by us, and we are happy to see Gayle playing for the Adani Sportsline squad "said Raman Raheja, co-founder and CEO of LLC.
Along with Parthiv Patel, a local favourite, Gayle will be joined by fellow teammate and West Indian batter Lendl Simmons. Ajantha Mendis, the mysterious spinner from Sri Lanka, and Daniel Vettori, the former New Zealand captain and left-arm spinner, will be in charge of the spin department, while Mitchell McClenaghan will be in charge of the pace bowling.
