Australia head coach Justin Langer confirmed Josh Hazlewood will miss the third Ashes Test match, at Melbourne, as well due to a minor side strain.
Hazlewood was injured during the first Ashes Test, in Brisbane and did not feature in the second, in Adelaide. He has already made plans to spend the holiday with his partner's family, and will be unavailable. He is currently in Sydney, and will spend the Christmas in Melbourne.
However, Cam Green suggested Hazlewood that may return in the fourth Ashes Test at the SCG, from 5 January: ‘He's (Hazlewood) going really well. He was doing his run-throughs today and he’s looking really good. I haven't spoken to the guys for this game, but definitely lock him in for Sydney.’
The third Ashes Test will begin on Boxing Day at the MCG. Australia are currently 2-0 up in the five-match series after two Test matches.
