Scotland beat Oman by 18 runs in Match 45 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman. They posted 273/6, and restricted Oman to 255/9.
Scotland rode on Kyle Coetzer's 63-ball 60 and Richie Berrington’s 87-ball 97 after electing to bat. Matthew Cross (25) and Calum MacLeod (26) had starts, but failed to convert them into anything substantial. At No. 7, Dylan Budge played a cameo (32* in 26 balls) to finish the innings with a flourish.
For Oman, Aqib Ilyas was the most economical (0-32) bowler, conceding four runs an over. Zeeshan Maqsood, Kaleemullah, Ayaan Khan, and Khawar Ali picked up a wicket apiece.
Coming to the chase, Oman got off to a terrible start after Kashyap Prajapati nicked Mark Watt to Cross in the opening over. Jatinder Singh played aggressively, striking five fours and three sixes in his 66-ball 64, but could not able to remain till the end. Chris Sole cleaned him up in the 23rd over.
At No. 8, Sandeep Goud put on a valiant effort. He remained unbeaten on a 56-ball 54, laced with four sixes and three fours, but did not receive the support he required. As a result, they fell 18 runs short of the target.
Watt bowled five maidens, and finished with excellent figures of 10-5-22-1. Safyaan Sharif and Sole shared four wickets but went for more than seven runs an over.
