Group 1
In the opening clash of the Super 12s, Australia registered a five-wicket win over South Africa. They chased down a modest 119 with two balls remaining. South Africa got off a poor start, losing four wickets inside eight overs. If not for Markram's 40, they would not even have reached 100. Australia then rode on a 34-ball 35 from Steven Smith and a quickfire 24 from Marcus Stoinis to win the game.
In another game, England thumped over West Indies to begin their campaign with a six-wicket win. They skittled out West Indies for just 55 before chasing it down in 8.2 overs. They are now at the top of the points table.
