David Wiese single-handedly took the game away from the Netherlands with a blistering 66 not out to propel Namibia to a six-wicket win. They chased down 165 with an over to spare. The Netherlands are almost eliminated after their second successive defeat.
Namibia got off a brisk start after being put in to bat. Max O'Dowd and Stephan Myburgh, who replaced Ben Cooper, added 42 in just over five overs before Myburgh (17) was dismissed by Jan Frylinck. Myburgh was earlier dropped in the fourth over by Wiese. Roelof van der Merwe's dismissal reduced the Dutch to 55/2, but O'Dowd held his nerve, and soon reached his second consecutive fifty with a four through the extra cover.
Colin Ackermann proceeded cautiously, scoring 35 in 32 balls before becoming Frylinck's second wicket, in the 18th over. O'Dowd was run out in the last over for 70, while a quickfire 21 from Scott Edwards propelled them to 164/5 in 20 overs.
In response, Zane Green (15) and Stephan Baard (19) started off with a flurry of boundaries. Green looked in fine touch, and struck three fours before mistiming a pull off Fred Klaassen, while Green chopped one on to the stumps.
Baard's dismissal left them reeling at 52/3. At this point, Namibia needed almost 10 an over. David Wiese (66*) rose to the occasion, forging a crucial 93-run stand with Gerhard Erasmus (32).
Erasmus eased himself with a six off van der Merwe early in his innings. Wiese, too, lifted one over the bowler's head to bring the second six of the over. An over later, Ackermann found himself on the receiving end, conceding two sixes and a four to Wiese.
As the asking rate dipped, J.J. Smit finished the match with two successive boundaries in the penultimate over.
Brief scores: Netherlands 164/4 in 20 overs (Max O'Dowd 70; Jan Frylinck 2-36) lost to Namibia 166/4 in 19 overs (David Wiese 66*; Pieter Seelaar 1-8) by 6 wickets with 6 balls to spare. Player of the Match: David Wiese.
