KL Rahul remains the top-ranked Indian batsman in the T20I rankings released by ICC today. Apart from Rahul, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is another name from Indian squad to have found his name in the top ten batsmen’s list.
Rahul has gained 26 points after his showings in Sri Lanka series where he scores 45 and 54. Rahul’s blistering performance once again made him a strong contender for the opening partner of Rohit Sharma in the limited-overs squad. With 760 rating points, he is standing at the sixth place now just behind Glenn Maxwell. Kohli, on the other hand, jumped one place to the ninth position followed by Shikhar Dhawan at 15th.
Kohli could manage 56 runs in the recently concluded series at a strike-rate of 164.70. In the second T20I in Indore, His unbeaten 30 was crucial during India’s chase to reach 143. In the final encounter in Pune, Kohli, batting at sixth position churned out a cameo of 26 off 17 with two fours and over over-boundary. For Dhawan, his 36-ball 52 in Pune helped him move one place up in the ICC T20I Rankings. Manish Pandey also scored an unbeaten 31 from 18 balls in the third match in Pune that helped him to be ranked at 70th.
India’s fast bowlers have made notable progress in the first T20I rankings of the year as well. Player of the series Navdeep Saini who finished the series with five wickets to his name moved to 98th slot at a rocketing pace. Whilst Saini took a leap of 146 places Shardul Thakur reclaimed the 92nd place as well after his five wickets in the series. Jaspreet Bumrah kept his good show on and move up eight places to reach 39th rank.
India’s 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka helped Kohli’s men gain two points to gather 260 points. But India’s team ranking remains unchanged. The Lankans, on the other hand now have 236 points, same as Afghanistan after losing two points.
