India began their 2022 U-19 World Cup campaign with a 45-run win against South Africa in Match 4 of the tournament in Providence. They rode on Yash Dhull’s 100-ball 82 to reach 232 after being asked to bat and bowled South Africa out for 187 in 45.4 overs.
Vicky Ostwal (5-28) and Nishant Sindhu (0-22) starred with ball, both conceding under three an over. Raj Bawa took four wickets, but conceded 47 in 6.4 overs. Dewald Brevis top-scored for South Africa, with 99-ball 65.
India’s both openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh were pinned leg before by Aphiwe Mnyanda (2-29) early. Shaik Rasheed (31), Dhull and Nishant Sindhu (27) then steadied the ship, while Kaushal Tambe scored a 44-ball 35 from No. 7. For South Africa, Matthew Boast returned 3-40 and Brevis 2-43, while Michael Copeland and Liam Alder claimed a wicket each.
