England Under-19s v the UAE Under-19s

England 362/6 in 50 overs (Tom Prest 154*; Jash Giyanani 2-60) beat UAE 173 in 38.2 overs (Ali Naseer 54; Rehan Ahmed 4-30) by 189 runs. Player of the Match: Tom Prest.

England maintained their 100% win record in the Under-19 World Cup 2022 with a 189-run win against the UAE in Match 16, in Basseterre. They rode on Tom Prest’s unbeaten 119-ball 154 to pile 362/6 after opting to bat and knocked over the UAE for 173 in 38.2 overs.

George Thomas (41), Jacob Bethell (62) and William Luxton (47) also chipped in with handy contributions. Barring Prest, the England attack, led by Rehan Ahmed (4-30), took at least a wicket to bundle out the UAE for a mere total. Ali Naseer top-scored for the UAE with 44-ball 54, while Alishan Sharafu’s 21 was the next best score.

Canada Under-19s v Bangladesh Under-19s

Canada 136 in 44.3 overs (Anoop Chima 63; Ripon Mondol 4-24) lost to Bangladesh 141/2 in 30.2 overs (Iftakher Hossain 61*; Ethan Gibson 1-18) by 8 wickets with 119 balls to spare. Player of the Match: SM Meherob.

Bangladesh beat Canada by eight wickets in Match 17. They bowled out Canada for 136 in 44.3 overs and reached the target in 30.2 overs.

Ripon Mondol and SM Meherob took four wickets each, while Ashiqur Zaman returned 2-21. Iftakher Hossain then remained not out on 61 to take Bangladesh past the finishing line with 119 balls to spare. No Canada bowler conceded more than six an over.

Pakistan Under-19s v Afghanistan Under-19s

Pakistan 239/9 in 50 overs (Abdul Faseeh 68; Izharulhaq Naveed 3-41) beat Afghanistan 215/9 in 50 overs (Bilal Sayedi 42; Awais Ali 3-36) by 24 runs. Player of the Match: Maaz Sadaqat.

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 24 runs in Match 18. They posted 239/9 after opting to bat, courtesy Abdul Faseeh’s 68 and Maaz Sadaqat’s unbeaten 37-ball 42 and restricted Afghanistan to 215/9.

Afghanistan got off to a slow start in the chase. Their top three – Bilal Sayedi (42 in 81 balls), Nangeyalia Kharote (12 in 32) and Allah Noor (28 in 49) all struggled to get going. Noor Ahmad (29 in 19) and Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai (39 in 49) then score runs quickly to take their side close to the target, but still fell 24 runs short.
