Sophie Ecclestone and Kate Cross claimed three wickets each before Nat Sciver's 61 helped England chase down 204 with one wicket and four balls remaining. For New Zealand, Frances Mackay claimed four wickets. New Zealand, meanwhile, rode on a half-century from Maddy Green and a 41 from Sophie Devine to reach 203 in 48.5 overs.
This was the fourth defeat for New Zealand. They are now above only Bangladesh and Pakistan, and can only qualify theoretically. England are tied with West Indies and India with four points. The unbeaten Australia and South Africa occupy the top two spots in that order.
