West Indies, for the second time in a row, won a thriller. After beating New Zealand by three runs, they defeated England by seven runs at the University Oval in Dunedin.

Chasing 226, England were bowled out for 218 in 47.4 overs. They needed nine runs with two wickets in hand when set batter Kate Cross was run out. Anisa Mohammed then conceded just a run and bowled Anya Shrubsole to wrap up the match.

England were let down by their middle order. Heather Knight, Amy Jone, and Nat Sciver made only runs between them. Knight and Sciver both fell to Hayley Matthews. Tammy Beaumont's 46 came to an end when she was pinned leg-before by Anisa.

A 58-run partnership between Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt then kept England in the game. But England soon found themselves in a spot of bother after losing both Dunkley (38) and Wyatt (33) in the space of three deliveries.

England needed 70 with two wickets in hand, but Sophie Ecclestone and Cross revived the chase with a 61-run stand. But Anisa maintained her calm in the last over to win the game for her side.

Earlier, Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews got West Indies off to a great start by adding 81 runs for the opening stand. Matthews fell for 45, while Dottin got run out on 31. In the space of six overs, West Indies slumped from 81/0 to 98/4. Shemaine Campbelle (66) and Chedean Nation (49*) added 123 for the fifth wicket to take West Indies to 225/6.

West Indies 225/6 in 50 overs (Shemaine Campbelle 66; Sophie Ecclestone 3-20) beat England 218 in 47.4 overs (Tammy Beaumont 46; Shamilia Connell 3-38) by 7 runs, Player of the Match: Shemaine Campbelle.
