ICC confirmed that Zimbabwe will host the T20 World Cup Qualifier from 21 November to 5 December. Ten teams will compete for three remaining spots for the ICC Women's World Cup 2022, slated to be held in New Zealand. Australia, England, India, South Africa and New Zealand have already qualified.
The three qualifiers, along with the next two teams, will also gain entry to the ICC Women’s Championship (IWC). The ICC has planned to extend the championship to ten teams.
Bangladesh, Ireland, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States, the West Indies and Zimbabwe will be in action for the qualifiers.
‘The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier is an extremely important event in our calendar as it not only provides teams with a chance to qualify for the World Cup but will also determine the final two participants in the next edition of the ICC Women's Championship,’ said ICC head of events Chris Tetley.
