Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were left off of the Indian cricket team's squad that was released on Thursday for the T20I series against the West Indies.

BCCI announced India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies which is set to take place from July 29.

For the West Indies T20Is, Kohli, who missed the first ODI against England due to a groyne injury, has also been left off the roster. However, the BCCI did not clarify in its official announcement whether he had been rested or passed over because of an injury. On the other hand, the team does not include the name of pacer Bumrah. However, the most surprising element of the selection has been that the selectors have named six spinners in the 18-man squad, sans Yuzvendra Chahal.

KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav have returned after missing the home series against South Africa owing to their separate injuries. Rohit Sharma will captain the team. However, fitness must be met before they may join the squad.

Starting on July 29, the five-game T20I series against the West Indies will last until August 7.

The first game will be held at Trinidad's Brian Lara Stadium, and the following two games will each be held at St. Kitts' Warner Park. The final two games of the series will be played in Florida's Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground.

India's squad for 5 T20Is: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul*, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
