India will host South Africa for five T20Is in June 2022. With some senior players scheduled to play the Test match against England in Old Trafford in July, India have included several uncapped and fringe cricketers for the series, several of whom had excellent IPL seasons. K.L. Rahul will lead the side in Rohit Sharma's absence, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik have been included, while Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav have been recalled. At the same time, Sanju Samson has been left out.
India squad: K.L. Rahul (c & wk), Rishabh Pant (vc & wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik.
The South Africans, too, have infused their side with IPL cricketers, though one notable omission is of Dewald Brevis, who was named Player of the Tournament in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. Wayne Parnell returned to the side after five years, while Tristan Stubbs was rewarded for an outstanding domestic tournament.
South Africa squad: Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Rassie van der Dussen, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Marco Jansen
